Hi - My name is Emmaly and I am a country bumpkin who spent most of her youth in rural Devon. I would while away the hours making outfits for my poor long-suffering teddy bear 'Bed Ted' and crocheting impossibly long Sindy scarves. Later graduating to making clothes and accessories for myself.
I am by no means a trained seamstress and would never pretend to be. But I have been sewing and making for as long as I can remember. If ever I feel melancholy picking up a needle or hook is delightfully reminisent of sitting beside our open fire, spaniel snoozing on my feet whilst my Mother taught me how to craft something from a length of yarn or scrap of fabric.
I want to create these memories for you and your children. I want to give you the skills to make toys, clothes and gifts so you also can pass these skills onto your children on those dark rainy winter days when going outside is too much to bear.
Then you too can curl up on the sofa with a ball of wool, hook and a hot chocolate (or glass of Merlot!) and create something beautiful.
So I decided to start a class or two, coupled with my other favourite past times of drinking tea and eating home baked cakes.
I want to create a friendly environment for you to come and learn, have a natter to likeminded souls and make more friends.
Don't worry if you have never tried something like this before. I will provide you with step by step instructions. Being dyslexic myself I have often had problems following pattern instructions so I have created guides with lots of pictures and longhand descriptions to make it as easy for you as possible. I want you to enjoy learning, not for it to be a grueling slog!
And most importantly as a new mother myself I know how difficult it can be to go to 'grown-up' classes when you have a baby in tow. So I want my classes to be inclusive of you and your baby. Then you can relax a little whilst they play or snooze and if, God forbid they cry, no one will Tsk Tsk that they are disturbing the class.
